Operation Little Dipper: Indy Drug Trafficking Group Dismantled

Indianapolis law enforcement officials discuss Operation Little Dipper, as large-scale drug trafficking group is dismantled through raids.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN -- Several officials and federal prosecutors from law enforcement agencies across Indianapolis announced the dismantling of a large-scale drug trafficking group Tuesday morning at the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department's North District. Mayor Joe Hogsett, the Marion County Prosecutors Office, IMPD, DEA, ATFHQ and more discussed the busts surrounding Operation Little Dipper, a north side drug trafficking ring that dealt methamphetamine, marijuana, cocaine and other drugs. Officials say a series of raids done by local and state law enforcement with the help of several crews and federal resources, led to the arrests of several violent drug traffickers.

IMPD hosted a live press conference Tuesday morning where officials including U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler announced the news, which included the arrests of 14 people.

AP News reports these defendants face charges including conspiracy to deal controlled substances and firearms offenses, after search warrants were executed on Friday where agents seized 10 guns, cell phones, cash, marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids and methamphetamine.

AP News adds that Minkler’s office says some of those charged referred to themselves as being part of “Stupid Star Entertainment,” which they claimed was a rap group.

Officials said they will continue to provide details into the operation and also continue to work with Project Safe Neighborhood to bring those to justice using firearms and violence. They also encourage community members to reach out to law enforcement and use available resources if they have any tips or know of anyone who may need help.
