Quite The Price Tag For Pence's Quick Trip To Indianapolis

The price tag for Vice President Pence's weekend travels, including a trip to Indy that ended shortly after anthem protests at Colts game.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Vice President Mike Pence's quick trip to Indianapolis Sunday is reportedly costing more than a flood of social media posts - and mixed reactions. Pence and his wife Karen flew to Indianapolis to watch the Colts take on the 49ers, and Peyton Manning's halftime celebratory events, but quickly leaving after several players knelt during the national anthem. According to CNN, an estimate of the flight costs of the quick trip have been released.

CNN reports the Air Force claims flying a C-32 (Air Force 2's plane model) costs about $30,000 an hour. The news outlet said Pence flew from Las Vegas to Indianapolis Saturday, which is about three hours and 20 minutes, costing about $100,000.

After abruptly leaving the game at Lucas Oil Stadium, Pence flew from Indianapolis to Los Angeles on Sunday, which took about four hours and 45 minutes and running up a total cost of about $142,500.

According to CNN, a Pence source said the trip to Indy was planned weeks in advance because of the honoring of Peyton Manning during Sunday's game, but the Las Vegas leg was recently added on.

CNN reports the total is about $242,500, but some of the flight cost for the trip into Los Angeles will be reimbursed by the Republican National Committee because the Vice President is attending a political event in the city.

Pence quickly left Sunday's game after nearly two dozen 49ers players took a knee during the national anthem, while no Colts were seen protesting.

"I left today's Colts game because @POTUS and I will not dignify any event that disrespects our soldiers, our Flag, or our National Anthem," Pence tweeted.
