Record-Setting July 4 Travel Forecast: Traffic, Gas Prices, Tips From AAA

What to know before you get on the road and travel to your Fourth of July weekend destination.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Fourth of July Weekend has arrived, and with it comes final travel preparations for millions of Americans.

According to AAA, if you're one of the 44.2 million people traveling between Friday, June 30 through Tuesday, July 4, you're part of a record-breaking number, making 2017 the most traveled Independence Day holiday weekend ever.

Although it's an overwhelming number, there's good news for the 37.5 million Americans traveling by car.

AAA Gas Prices show the national average gas price is four cents lower than last year, dropping from $2.288 to $2.239. In Indiana, Hoosiers are looking at an average price of $2.121, down from $2.207 one year ago.
