Sam's Club Closing Three Indiana Stores, Including Two In Indy

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — More than 400 people will be out of a job at the end of the month as Sam's Club is closing three Indiana stores, including two in Indianapolis. The news comes from the Indiana Department of Workforce Development, who received WARN notices Thursday listing the Jan. 26 closures of the Sam's Club stores at 10859 E. Washington St. and 3015 W. 86th St. The documents also list the closing of a store location at 4024 Elkhart Road in Goshen.

According to the DWD, 419 workers will be impacted in Indiana, as 157 employees at the Washington Street store, 152 employees at the 86th Street store and 110 at the Goshen store are being let go. These terminated employees will be able to apply for open positions at other Sam's Club or Walmart locations, as Sam's Club is owned by Walmart.

The news of Sam's Club closures comes the same day after Walmart announced plans to increase all U.S. hourly employees' starting wage to $11, and a one-time cash bonus of $1,000 for eligible associates.
