Top FBI Official Announces Retirement After 30-Year Career
Top FBI official in Indianapolis, Jay Abbott, announces retirement and shares when his last day will be: Report

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The city's top FBI official is retiring after 30 years of serving Indianapolis, Associated Press reports. The news outlet says Jay Abbott, Indianapolis' special agent in charge, announced Friday he will step down on Jan. 26, three decades after joining the FBI in the Washington Field Office in 1987. AP reports Abbott joined the Indianapolis Division in 2014, after serving as acting special agent in charge in Seattle.
During his time in the Washington Field Office, Abbott worked on foreign counterintelligence and international terrorism, and was also part of the agency's first Cold Case Homicide Task Force.
Abbott's several stints have included working at the U.S. Embassy in Paris as an assistant legal attache, supervising a public corruption squad in El Paso, Texas and different leadership roles with the FBI's Criminal Justice Information Services Division.
