Trash, Recycling And Christmas Tree Pickup Pushed Back
Local residents should note upcoming changes to regular trash and recycling schedules, as well as the rules for Christmas tree pickup

Due to upcoming Monday holidays, Indianapolis area residents will experience a single-day delay in trash collection for the next two weeks. Republic Services says its employees do not work on Christmas Day and New Year's Day, but will resume their normal schedules Tuesday through Saturday. Therefore, trash and recycling pickup will be one day after residents' standard pickup day. For example, if your regular collection is on Tuesday, expect your cans and bins to be snagged on Wednesday, instead, from Dec. 26 through Jan. 6.
Crews will also collect Christmas trees between Tuesday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, officials said. Trees will be retrieved at the same time as trash and recycling.
"Please note that trees must be cut into sections of no more than four feet per section and placed inside the trash cart so that the automated arm of the trucks will be able to place them in the truck," said a community alert reminding residents about the policy. "Trees lying on the ground besides trash containers will not be collected."
