Two Siblings, Both Wayne Township Students, Killed In Car Crash
Wayne Township Fire Department officials say two siblings were killed in a car crash in Indianapolis. School district, others react: Report

WAYNE TOWNSHIP, IN -- Wayne Township Fire Department members are reaching out to those who knew a young brother and sister killed in a car accident Sunday in Indianapolis. WTFD says their team members and IMPD crews responded to a two-car accident in the 8000 Block Of W. Washington St., where they say a 16-year-old girl and her 12-year-old brother were pronounced dead at the scene. Officials say the driver of the other car was taken to Eskenazi Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
In a statement posted on the WTFD Twitter page, the fire department said: "We want to express our condolences to family, friends and Wayne Twp school staff on the loss of a young brother and sister in a tragic car accident today. It was a very emotional scene for family members and all first responders."
While the names of those involved weren't immediately released, the siblings were students in the Metropolitan School District of Wayne Township, as the district said in a statement (see below) that the school community learned "with heavy hearts" about the accident and that the students “were very active in their schools and respected by their peers.”
