Wayne Township Fire Captain Assaulted By Male Patient

Man in custody after assaulting fire captain during response efforts.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Wayne Township Fire Department officials say their ladder truck captain was assaulted early Monday morning after responding to a call for medical help on Greenlee Drive in Indianapolis. WTFD officials say members of their department, EMS, and Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the scene just after 3:30 a.m., where upon arrival the man in need of help became agitated, hitting the fire official three times, causing minor injuries to the firefighter's face and neck.

Fire officials said the man was taken into custody by IMPD.

According to a report from WTFD, the firefighter was treated on scene for his injuries before being released.
