• 11 Indiana animal shelters join US initiative, will temporarily lower adoption fees (wishtv.com) — Jeffersonville Animal Shelter is joining a national Empty the Shelters campaign, temporarily cutting pet adoption fees to $70 or less from Friday through Sept. 30. All animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped, giving Jeffersonville residents a more affordable way to adopt while helping free up space in crowded local shelters.
   

• Louder Than Life fans stranded after Jeffersonville hotel abruptly closes to guests (wave3.com) — Guests arriving for the Louder Than Life festival found a Jeffersonville riverside hotel suddenly closed to new check-ins, canceling reservations through October and disrupting plans for concerts and weddings. Local residents, including people in nearby New Albany, are stepping up by offering backyard camping and other last-minute lodging options to stranded visitors.
   

• USPS warns of Louisville mail delays as packages are rerouted to other processing centers (wave3.com) — Mail delays at Louisville's processing center are spilling over to southern Indiana, with at least one Jeffersonville customer seeing a package rerouted more than 1,000 miles after arriving in Louisville. USPS says Louisville is handling extra volume during Evansville upgrades and expects to be caught up by Sept. 20, but some Kentuckiana residents report bills and packages arriving weeks late.
