The Salvation Army responds to disasters in northwest and east central Indiana (wbiw.com) β La Porte County residents still without power after the August 11 storms can get free food and hydration from The Salvation Army, with ongoing distributions in Michigan City, Hanna, Union Mills, Kingsford Heights, La Porte City Hall, and La Porte Civic Auditorium. Additional help is available at the La Porte corps on Monroe Street, and locations and times are being updated frequently on local Salvation Army Facebook pages.

La Porte County Health Department Releases Latest Beach Water Quality Results (wkvi.com) β La Porte County's latest beach water tests show very low E. coli levels at Long Beach and Duneland Beach, all well within the Health Department's safe "green" range. However, this round did not include beaches in La Porte, Hudson Lake, or Fish Lake, so swimmers there should keep an eye on future updates posted to the Indiana Beach Alert website.

While his college decision centers on major programs like Syracuse and Alabama, his strong shooting and playmaking are being developed right here in La Porte, where he stars for a top EYBL Scholastic team.

Indiana Storm Recovery Efforts Expand as Federal Emergency Declaration Expected (wamwamfm.com) β La Porte County is among several Indiana communities where Salvation Army teams are now providing food, water, shelter, and other storm relief after last week's severe weather. State officials say the storms caused historic, nearly statewide damage, and a federal emergency declaration is expected to speed up recovery and support for affected residents.
