• La Porte County Sheriff's Office public statement on potential plea deal offered in shooting of Deputy Samuelson case (wimsradio.com) — La Porte County residents are being urged to note that the Sheriff's Office is publicly opposing a proposed plea deal in the May 22 shooting that critically injured Deputy Jon Samuelson. Sheriff Ronald Heeg says the agency stands firmly with Samuelson and his wife, calling the case deeply personal for deputies and county residents and asking prosecutors to withdraw any plea offer.
