• Man shot at victim 9 times in Ivy Tech parking lot, court records say (jconline.com) — A Lafayette man is facing eight felony charges after police say he shot a co-worker in the Ivy Tech Community College overflow parking lot on South Creasy Lane, firing nine rounds and injuring the victim's hip. Investigators used surveillance video and employer records to identify and arrest the 19-year-old suspect, while the victim continues recovering from serious injuries in an Indianapolis hospital.
   

• Purdue's Amelia Earhart expedition readies for takeoff (jconline.com) — Purdue-connected researchers and partners are heading from Los Angeles to a remote Pacific island to investigate a mysterious underwater object that might be Amelia Earhart's missing Electra. If confirmed and eventually recovered, the aircraft could one day return to West Lafayette, honoring Earhart's original plan to bring the plane back to Purdue and tying global history directly to the local community.
