1. Brookston Man Sentenced For Child's Death (wlfi.com) — A Brookston man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for the 2023 death of 4-year-old Ke'andre Jolly in Lafayette, following convictions for neglect and aggravated battery. Lafayette police found the child unresponsive at a North 13th Street home, and medical findings later ruled his death a homicide caused by blunt force and internal injuries.
   

2. Man dies following single-car crash south of Lafayette (wthr.com) — A man believed to be in his 80s died Sunday after his car left U.S. 231 and hit a tree about seven miles south of downtown Lafayette. Tippecanoe County authorities say airbags deployed but no seatbelt was used, and the coroner is working to confirm his identity as the investigation continues.
   

3. Purdue football's 'amazing' Jacobo Echeverria Lozano earns Big Ten award (jconline.com) — Purdue freshman kicker Jacobo Echeverria Lozano, playing just across the river in West Lafayette, has been named the Big Ten's Special Teams Player of the Week after a perfect three-field-goal performance in a win at Illinois. His early-season accuracy has given Purdue reliable points and marked the program's first weekly conference honor since 2025.
   

4. Indiana State Police Enforcement Bureau Releases September Statistics (wlfi.com) — From their Lafayette-based district, Indiana State Police report more than 36,000 traffic stops statewide in September, including nearly 300 drunk driving arrests and over 1,100 traffic-related criminal arrests. Troopers also investigated 1,185 crashes and helped more than 2,300 stranded motorists, while pledging continued enforcement using patrols, aviation, and unmarked vehicles.
