Hamilton Southeastern Schools to Receive $2.1 Million From Lilly Endowment

What this hefty grant means for Hamilton Southeastern Schools, and why community students will benefit.

HAMILTON COUNTY, IN. – It's a great day for Hamilton Southeastern Schools, as they've received a generous grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. The school corp. says they were given a grant of $2,103,501 as part of the Endowment's Comprehensive Counseling Initiative for Indiana K-12 students. Hamilton Southeastern Schools is one of 52 public school corporations and five charter schools in Indiana selected to put these plans into place to help them meet their students' academic, college, career, social and emotional needs, a school spokesperson said in a release.

Why this amount? The school corporation said the grant was based on their total enrollment, and will be used to improve counseling practices and access within our community. Thanks to the Indianapolis-based, private philanthropic foundation, more than 21,000 Hamilton Southeastern Schools students will be served in these areas.
