Toss Unwanted Medications At These Hamilton Co. Spots

NOBLESVILLE, IN — Three Hamilton County locations will be drop off locations during an upcoming community event and effort to get prescription drugs off of our streets. You can join other community members Saturday, Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon by disposing unwanted medications properly at Riverview Health in Noblesville (east parking lot), CVS in Cicero, and Farmers Bank in Sheridan, according to a release. According to the CDC, Indiana has one of the highest rates of drug prescriptions with 109 prescriptions for every 100 Hoosier residents, as stated in a release, in addition to ranking high in prescription drug abuse.

Drop off locations will accept the following:

• Pills
• Capsules
• Patches
• Ointments
• Over-the-counter medications
• Samples
• Pet medications

Drop off locations cannot accept:

• Liquids
• Needles/sharps
• Aerosols
• Inhalers
• Hazardous materials

Officials advise people to dispose of liquids only after they're mixed with cat litter, oil dry, or coffee grounds, then packaged in plastic and thrown away in the garbage.

Needles and sharps should be taken to Hamilton County Household Hazardous Waste, 1717 Pleasant Street in Noblesville.
