📰 News we're reading

• Clergy leaders put public pressure on county officials with Data Center concerns (abc57.com subscription) — Clergy from several South Bend congregations are pressing county officials to ensure Microsoft's data center deal includes protections on noise, water, and energy use, plus a "fair share" fund for struggling neighborhoods. Organizers with We Make Indiana want revenue directed toward sustaining vital local resources and preventing higher living costs, emphasizing that benefits should reach families even if they never work at a data center.

• Religious leaders push data centers to fund public transportation, other services amid cuts (wndu.com) — South Bend faith leaders are urging that tax-subsidized data centers help fund public transportation and other services as Transpo faces cuts, including the elimination of Routes 14 and 15 starting next week. Riding the No. 5 bus, members of We Make Indiana called for a "Fair Share Fund" overseen by community and county leaders to support transit, healthcare, and education locally.

• Groundbreaking ceremony for "The Parisi" Condos begins new chapter (wsbt.com) — A major new condo project, "The Parisi," has officially broken ground at the former Parisi restaurant site on South Bend Avenue, bringing 38 upscale units, a rooftop deck, gym, and garage parking. With 14 condos already sold and completion targeted for August 2027, the development reflects growing demand to live near downtown South Bend and the University of Notre Dame.
