1. Indiana mayor says data center NDA ban more symbolic than practical (lpm.org subscription) — South Bend Mayor James Mueller has ordered city staff to stop signing non-disclosure agreements about data centers, even as he calls the move largely symbolic. The order follows council concerns over NDAs tied to Amazon's wastewater discharges, and a proposed council bill that Mueller says he'll veto as an overreach into executive contracting powers.
2. St. Joseph Grade School building in South Bend celebrates centennial (southbendtribune.com) — South Bend's St. Joseph Grade School just marked 100 years in its current Colfax Avenue building with a rededication Mass, blessing, and tours from Bishop Kevin Rhoades. Families celebrated a new learning room for students with special needs and reflected on the school's deep Holy Cross and neighborhood roots, including ties to nearby Notre Dame and longtime local businesses.
3. 2 dead in 2nd Saturday night shooting, mile south of Notre Dame Stadium (southbendtribune.com) — Late Saturday on South Bend's northeast side, two people were killed and a third critically wounded in a shooting on Bissell Street, about a mile south of Notre Dame Stadium. The attack followed an earlier Eddy Street shooting the same night, and investigators are asking anyone with information to contact Michiana Crime Stoppers anonymously to help move the case forward.
4. Violent weekend leaves five injured, two dead (abc57.com) — A violent Saturday night in South Bend left two young adults dead and three others injured in separate shootings near Eddy Street and on Bissell Street. Police say one woman and a South Bend officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries near Angela and Eddy, while a later incident on Bissell killed two people and critically injured a third as detectives pursue leads.
5. Irish take control in 2nd half to beat MSU (miningjournal.net) — Notre Dame extended its winning streak to 13 games in South Bend, pulling away from Michigan State 27-10 behind a strong second-half defensive stand. Quarterback CJ Carr and running back Nolan James Jr. powered the offense, while the Irish defense smothered the Spartans and set up a road trip to Purdue next weekend.
