Budget talks begin at Zionsville Community Schools (youarecurrent.com) — Zionsville Community Schools is starting work on its 2027 budget, expecting to again receive the lowest per-student state funding in Indiana even as local assessed values rise. District leaders say upcoming property tax deductions will soon slow revenue growth, helping explain why ZCS is pursuing a new referendum this fall. 2. Zionsville Community Schools' Early Learning Center making progress (youarecurrent.com) — Zionsville Community Schools' new 125,000-square-foot Early Learning & Education Services Center on 700 East is rapidly rising and slated for completion by fall 2027, promising more preschool space and childcare options. Recent updates also include new locker rooms, a multipurpose gym, and the Eagle Loop drop-off at Zionsville Community High School, plus upgrades at multiple ZCS buildings.
3. U.S. swimmers with ties to Indiana set records at 2026 Pan Pacific Championships (wthr.com) — Zionsville's own Will Modglin grabbed four medals, including two relay golds, at the Pan Pacific Championships, boosting his chances for the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles. Alongside fellow Indiana-connected swimmers Van Mathias and Aaron Shackell, Modglin helped set a world record in the mixed medley relay and continued Indiana's strong presence on the international stage.
4. Council OKs DORAs for downtown, Fishers District (youarecurrent.com) — Fishers has approved two Designated Outdoor Refreshment Areas, joining a growing list of Indiana cities that let adults carry alcoholic drinks within marked districts. While the new rules focus on Fishers' downtown and Fishers District, the story also notes that nearby Zionsville already operates a DORA, signaling a broader regional shift in how local downtowns handle open-container drinking.
