• Zionsville Town Council OK's increase to public safety tax for rural fire departments (youarecurrent.com subscription) — Zionsville's Town Council has approved a small increase to the public safety local income tax that will generate about $500,000 a year for rural Boone County volunteer fire departments, potentially benefiting residents traveling across the county. Chiefs say rising call volumes and equipment costs demand the extra support, and any revenue beyond that amount will be shared with municipalities, including Zionsville, which already receives over $6 million annually from the tax.
• Zionsville Plan Commission to weigh gas station setback regulation (youarecurrent.com) — Zionsville leaders are advancing a proposed zoning change that would keep new gas stations at least 500 feet from schools, parks, child care centers, and similar sites. Sparked by controversy over a Holliday Farms station, the ordinance now heads to the Plan Commission for a public hearing and possible tweaks before returning to the Town Council for a final vote.
• Gaylor Electric to be Primary Sponsor of Graham Rahal's INDYCAR Entry for the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C.
