Carbon Monoxide Leak Forces Evacuation Of Local Church Daycare

Purpose of Life Church daycare evacuated after workers reported high carbon monoxide readings: Report

High carbon monoxide levels at a local daycare forced staff and children to evacuate Monday, The Associated Press reports. AP says the Indianapolis Fire Department reports no injuries have been reported following the incident at the Purpose of Life Church daycare in Indianapolis, and that children were released to their parents. According to AP, Citizens Energy was called to the church about 10:30 a.m. and had the building evacuated after two utility workers reported a strong smell, burning eyes and high carbon monoxide readings on the first floor. However, AP says readings were found to be higher on the building's second floor.

Doors and windows were open for ventilation and gas was shut off to the furnace, stove and water heater.
