IFD Releases 911 Calls From Witnesses Of Car Submerged In Pond
Indianapolis Fire Department officials release the 911 calls made by four witnesses at the scene of the Sundance Apartments water rescue.
Indianapolis Fire Department officials have released the 911 calls made by witnesses who claim they saw a woman drive her car onto a Sundance Apartments retention pond, and watched it completely submerge into the water with the driver still inside. IFD says the woman, who was rescued by Tactical Dive Team 7 crew members from inside the submerged car, remains in critical condition at Eskenazi Hospital. Per IFD Special Operations, officials say weather conditions continue to prevent retrieval of the vehicle.
IFD reports dive team members located the car and woman inside of it, 20 feet from shore and 12 feet down, and pulled her up out of the sunroof within four minutes of entering the water.
IFD officials, including Battalion Chief Rita Reith, have released the four calls made to 911 from callers who witnessed the car going into the pond. Out of respect for the patient and her family, IFD says the call made by the driver is not included, however the following calls may be disturbing for some listeners:
