Indiana State Police Accepting Applications For Capitol Police Section Recruits

Do you or someone you know want to join the police force? The Indiana State Police Capitol Police Section is now accepting applications for the 29th Capitol Police selection process. ISP has provided details on requirements as well as benefits. ISP said the starting salary for a Capitol Police Section Probationary Officer is $39,292.00 a year, and the ISP Capitol Police Section also offers an excellent health care plan of medical, dental, vision, and pharmacy coverage for both current and retired employees and their families.

ISP said the state maintains short-term and long-term disability plans for full time employees after six months of continuous employment, and ISP Capitol Police Officers are automatically enrolled in the Public Employees Retirement Fund (PERF) where the state will contribute to your retirement account.

ISP adds applications must be received via online submission by 11:59 pm (EDT) on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2017, and will not be accepted after this deadline.

ISP lists basic eligibility requirements and consideration factors for a Capitol Police Officer:

1. Must be a United States citizen.

2. Must be at least 21 years of age when appointed as a police employee. (Appointment date is June, 1, 2018)

3. Must meet a minimum vision standard (corrected or uncorrected) of 20/50 acuity in each eye and 20/50 distant binocular acuity in both eyes.

4. Must possess a valid driver's license to operate an automobile.

5. Must be a high school graduate as evidenced by a diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
