Indianapolis Fire Department (IFD) officials say a man is in serious condition after a garage caught fire Thursday morning at a house on the city's East side. IFD crews were called to the fire at 1003 Winding Hart Drive just before 9 a.m., and officials say crews saw heavy fire and black smoke coming from the garage upon arrival.
IFD says crews were able to get the fire under control in less than 30 minutes, however a 63-year-old man was injured and taken to Eskenazi Hospital where he remains in serious condition.
According to IFD, two dogs were accounted for, however the homeowner was not around when the fire broke out.
