Man Escapes Police, Critically Injured After Being Hit By Car

Why police pulled over 26-year-old man, who tried to escape police before being hit by car on city's south side: Report

Authorities have identified the man who was badly hurt when hit by a car on I-65 while running from a state trooper in Indianapolis, Associated Press reports. Indiana State Police say 26-year-old Timothy Williams Jr. of New Castle remains in critical condition, According to AP, who says the man was hit Friday night on the city’s south side. AP reports state police say a trooper stopped a disabled car in I-65′s northbound lanes, before smelling marijuana from inside the car, and requesting identification from a man and woman.

The man reportedly showed the trooper a fake ID.

AP reports the trooper asked the man to exit the car, but he shoved the officer and ran. He climbed the median wall and was hit as he was trying to cross the southbound lanes.
