5 Things You Need to Know About The Sales Tax Holiday

Iowa's annual sales tax holiday began at 12 a.m. Friday and runs through 11:59 p.m. Saturday.

No sales tax will be collected on select clothing and footwear from today through 12 a.m. Aug. 7.

Any store that is open from 12 a.m. Aug. 5 to 12 a.m. Aug. 7 has to participate.

The exemption only applies to clothing and shoes that cost less than $100 per item.

If an item bought on the sales tax holiday is exchanged later the buyer will not have to pay taxes.

Shoes without cleats are exempt, shoes with cleats are taxable.
