Today was the deadline to submit the District’s Return to Learn (RTL) plan to the Iowa Department of Education and we are happy to announce that it has been “accepted.” One of the requirements is to post that submitted plan on our website, which can be accessed directly at the URL below. Please know that our developed plan is much more detailed than what was required from the state and we plan to share that larger document next week on our website (see the timeline below).

Here is a timeline of events over the next couple of weeks of what you can expect from the Ames Community School District regarding RTL. We will be providing more information on the surveys, community meetings, and developed metrics for decision-making in upcoming communications.
- July 7 – Return to Learn Plan Released to Staff
- July 8 – Staff Survey Released
- July 8 – Return to Learn Plan Released to Public
- July 9 – Parent and Student Surveys Released
- July 13 – Staff Return to Learn Staff Informational Meeting (10:00 a.m.)
- July 14 – Elementary Return to Learn Community Meeting (5:30 p.m.)
- July 15 – MS & HS Return to Learn Community Meeting (5:30 p.m.)
- July 20 – Return to Learn Plan – Action Item for Board
- July 22 – Story County Schools Protocol/Metrics Reviewed by Administrators
- July 23 – Story County Schools Protocol/Metrics Released to Board
- July 24 – Story County Schools Protocol/Metrics Released to Public
- August 10 – Special Board Meeting Approval of Return to Learn Model
