Ames Expects to Put Snow Ordinance in Effect at 8 a.m. Saturday
Ames residents should move their vehicles from snow routes

The City of Ames expects to put the snow ordinance into effect by 8 a.m. Saturday since the forecast predicts several inches of snow to fall in the Ames area over the weekend.
The Snow Ordinance goes into effect when two inches of snow falls on major arterial streets in Ames.
Snow routes are marked by red and white signs. Vehicles parked on snow routes when the Snow Ordinance is in effect will be ticketed and towed. Vehicles should be moved to off-street parking or to streets that are not designated snow routes.

The Snow Ordinance remains in effect until the streets are completely plowed from curb to curb, and it has stopped snowing.
To assist in the plowing efforts, all Ames residents are asked to remove parked vehicles from residential streets. However, only those on snow routes are required to move them.
