Ames Group Among Concrete Cow Winners at the State Fair

Iowa State University Extension Office in Ames, took second place in concrete cow decorating contest at the Iowa State Fair on Thursday.

More than 60 concrete cows were painted by Iowans to pay tribute to the 100th anniversary of the Iowa State Fair Butter Cow. Judges ranked the cows based on their creativity and use of materials.

Fairgoers could enter professional or novice categories, and decorate a concrete cow in any way they chose. The ISU Extension's cow, Flat Duffy, and 59 others are scattered throughout the fairgrounds.

Flat Duffy cow can be found with others in Zone 1 of the fairgrounds near the horse and sheep barns.
