Ames Lab Donates to Story County Dental Clinic and Food Pantry
Ames Lab employees raised more than $4,000 for MICA clinic.

The U.S. Department of Energyβs Ames Laboratory raised $4,400 for two charities by auctioning things such as office treats for the year and home-cooked meals.
Employees and local businesses donated 58 items for a silent auction and held a live auction as part of its 10th annual holiday auction this year. Proceeds went to Mid Iowa Community Action's , located off 16th Street in Ames, and the Food Pantry.
The annual event has brought in $30,000 to date.

The 58 items on the silent auction raised $1,013 and the 31 items on the live auction brought in $3,230. Employes gave also chipped in $204 in cash donations, bringing the grand total to $4,447. Employees also brought in food, hats, gloves and mittens and scarves. Those items were donated to a third charity: Beloit Social Services.
Office treats for a year was the top item, fetching $550. A silver pendant necklace from Ames Silversmithing brought $440, and a home-cooked breakfast or lunch donated by Diane Muncrief brought $360.
