Ames' offense unresponsive in 26-0 loss.

Waukee came to Ames on Friday night and handed the Little Cyclones a 26-0 loss. The Warriors scored a touchdown in every quarter as injuries plagued Ames once again in their final home game of the season.

Possession of the ball went back and fourth in the first quarter, both teams’ drives being hurt badly by penalties. With 21 seconds left in the first quarter, the Warriors broke through the Ames defense, scoring on a 77-yard run by quarterback Cole Pederson.

Ames was unable to stop Pederson as he threw for 124 yards on nine completions, and ran for 185 yards on 20 attempts, with 3 touchdowns.

Ames’ offense was stagnant due in part to turnover at the quarterback position. Sam Straub was injured and left the game in the first half with a leg injury. He was replaced by Mike Mayberry and late in the fourth quarter, freshman Matt Flummerfelt took over at quarterback.

Ames and Waukee will look to extend their season against unannounced opponents.
