Ames Police: Ames Man Assaulted, Imprisoned Woman
Police said an Ames man hit a woman and told her that she couldn't leave his home until her eye was better.

A 27-year-old Ames man was charged with willful injury, a Class D felony, and false imprisonment, March 11, after an hours long imprisonment and assault on a woman in his Beedle Drive home, according to criminal complaints.
A friend told Ames Police that a woman was being held against her will about noon March 11. When no one came to the door the police forced their way in and found a 26-year-old woman in the back bedroom holding an ice pack to her face. The woman told police that Gordon Johnson had assaulted her after becoming upset about phone calls and told her that she couldn't leave until her eye was better, complaints said. Then he continued the assault, while her 8-year-old son was present, complaints said.
She told police that Johnson hit her in the face, choked her, and burned her with a curling iron, complaints said. Her injuries included swollen eyes, red marks on her face and burn marks on her back and hip, complaints said. She said that the assault began about 7 a.m.
