Ames Will Install Noisemaker to Deter Crows
A bird repellant noisemaker would play bird distress calls to keep birds out of the area.

If chillier temperatures and students flocking to Campustown don't disperse the roosting crows, a Super BirdXPeller Pro should.
The City of Ames plans to install the bird noisemaker in Campustown within the next week to keep the black birds away.
They roost in Campustown trees, creep some people out and leave white splotches behind.

Kory Kehril, the manager of Copy Works on Welch Avenue told Ames Patch in December that the flocks of crows have become a . Crows gather in the trees each morning covering Campustown sidewalks with droppings.
“The crows have moved in because there aren’t many people walking up and down the street. That, along with construction moving them out of their normal area, and they have become an eyesore,” Kehril said in December.

Both Kehril and public works employees have cleaned up after the birds. But Kehril said it was hard to keep up with the mess.
The noisemaker installed will make bird distress signals to deter birds from the area. A similar device was installed at a parking ramp at parking ramp to keep birds from roosting there.
