Iowa DMV locations to close temporarily for staff safety training (kcci.com) — If you need to visit the Ames DMV, mark your calendar: the office will be closed on Sept. 30 for staff safety training, along with several other Iowa locations. 4. Rep. Hinson hosts roundtable ahead of Faith and Freedom Banquet (who13.com) — Ames residents are being invited to a Monday 6 p.m. town hall with Democratic gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand, offering a chance to hear his pitch directly. 5. Democrats aim to flip Iowa's U.S. Senate seat in an increasingly competitive race (iowapublicradio.org) — Iowa's increasingly competitive U.S. Senate race is reaching Ames, where Democratic candidate Josh Turek recently worked the crowd outside Jack Trice Stadium before an Iowa State football game. He's challenging Republican Ashley Hinson in a contest analysts say is tightening, as both candidates court independents on issues like affordability, corruption, education, and national leadership ahead of November's vote.
