Another Water Main Break at MGMC
A water main broke at Mary Greeley Medical Center Wednesday which could cause rusty water for homes nearby.

Ames residents are being advised against using their water if it is rusty.
A contractor damaged a water main at Mary Greeley Medical Center about 9 a.m. Wednesday, affecting water pressure in properties as far as a mile from the site.

Using the hot water tap could draw rusty water into the hot water heater. If discoloration is apparent, residents should flush their household system by opening several cold water taps at once until the water runs clear.
If discolored water causes staining problems with clothing, rust remover is available free of charge at the City Hall information desk, the Water Plant, all fire stations, or by calling (515) 239-5550 during business hours, or (515) 239-5150 after 3 p.m.
