Hockey: Little Cyclones Drop Season Finale - Prepare for State Tournament
The Ames Little Cyclones Hockey Team dropped their regular season finale Friday night to the Des Moines Oakleafs, and now will begin preparation for the State Tournament in Ames February 24th-26th.

Riding a six game winning streak coming into Friday Night's regular season finale against the Des Moines Oak Leafs the Ames Little Cyclones Hockey Team was hoping to make it a 7th straight win and head into the Midwest High School Hockey League State Tournament on a hot streak. It was not meant to be as the Little Cyclones lost 4-1 to Des Moines.
Mark Wishman scored the lone goal for the Little Cyclones on assists from Alex Thompson and Dalton Weber. Junior goalie Orion Boylston started and played the frist half of the game stopping 18 of 20 shots, and senior Jake Petsch played the second half of the game stopping 15 of 17 shots.
The loss dropped the Little Cyclones to 14-16-2 on the year,and while it was a tough loss to a big rival it did not have any barring on the Little Cyclones State Tournament seeding.

Ames has locked up the 4th seed in the Eastern Division and will play the number 1 Seed in the Western Division when the State Tournament opens on Friday Feb. 24 at the Ames/ISU Ice Arena. The game time will be at 4 p.m. or 5 p.m.
The Little Cyclones will have the final weekend of the regular season off and will likely know their first round opponet by Sunday night when the MHSHL Regular Season concludes.
