Spring and Baseball

My favorite season starts now!

Baseball!

It is finally here.  It seems like a long wait for a season that stretches from April to late October. It is a fun season and at this time of year everyone (even the Cub fans) are full of hope.  As a Cardinal fan you can see why I wanted to see this season come around again, defending world champs!  Even with the departure of Pujols to the Angles of Los Angeles both will?   be stories to watch this season.

Cardinals will they be able to win the NL Central division again without sir Albert?  Can the Cincinnati Reds finally get the push past the Cards in that Division?  What can the Brewers do? They have Braun back (last season’s MVP) but they lost a big part of that team’s success in Prince Fielder.

The Red Sox have a new manager Bobby Valentine, he is a good man who will not put up with the shenanigans that happened with the team last year, and he has a loaded lineup with Adrian Gonzalez, Jacoby Ellsbury, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia, and Kevin Youkilis will he succeed?  The Yankees will always be a story but can they compete this year as their stars are getting older?  Or will the young Tampa bay Rays have something to say by the end of the year?

Speaking of Florida, the Miami Marlins went and got Jose Reyes from the Mets over the winter and many are projecting them to give a run at the Phillies for the NL east.

The Iowa Cubs have their home season opener this Thursday, not knowing who is going to be there will make it fun to get to know them this season.

So many stories and we haven’t even talked about college or high school plenty of that in central Iowa.  Boone Bears of DMACC fame has home games through the beginning of May then the league tourney and possible birth to the NJCAA World Series.

Local High schools will be battling it out on warm summer evenings all over, so grab a drink and a walking taco, keep the sunflower seeds handy and take in a game or two.  It’ll be fun!
