The Rise Of Ron Paul
It's a three person race for the GOP nomination and the pundits don't like it.
It's pretty hard to change the "conventional wisdom."
Especially since there are many pundits and prognosticators who are paid for offering their expert opinion (MY opinion on this blog is offered as a free, public service ;-)). If you've been vehemently contending that Tim Tebow can't play quarterback in the NFL, it's a tough moment when you need to walk that opinion back.
If you're a political pundit who has been saying that the GOP race has come down to Mitt vs. Newt, the new polling numbers that display the rise of Ron Paul in Iowa are tough to swallow. One option: talk about how a Ron Paul win means that Iowa is quirky and doesn't deserve to be first in the nation.
However, Paul is also polling well in New Hampshire. He has money and he has enthusiasm. A top-three finish--or an outright win--in Iowa confirms that this is a three-person race.
I say "confirm" because it already IS a three-person race. And with less than a month to go, it's not out of the realm of possibility that one more contender begins to surge.
