What's Angering Voters
Did you know that Congress is exempt from insider trading laws?
While it's fun to talk about lurid personal scandal on the campaign trail, what's really angering American voters was on full display in a "60 Minutes" report on Sunday: the fact that we live under a "patronage" government that is enacting policies meant to fiscally benefit a few while ignoring policy with broader, more far-reaching implications.
Did you know that Congress was exempt from insider trading laws? I didn't. But apparently members of Congress are aware of the exemption. Yes, you can pick a person from the opposite party to target for your wrath (this Salon article goes after a Republican), but this type of unethical behavior is on display in both parties.
It is not illegal. But not every wrong activity is against the law.
