What's Up With Those Crazy GOP Governors?
Republican governors are experiencing success in a poor environment for the GOP, so they are now the new extremists.
Peggy Noonan points out that the new leadership of the Republican Party appears to be in the states, not Washington, as GOP Governors are putting forward bold proposals and enjoying economic (and electoral) success.
It wasn't long after Noonan's column appeared that the left took notice. This column by Ed Kilgore seems to say, "hey, while we were winning Washington, did anybody notice what these KER-RAZY right-wingers are doing in the states?" Kilgore is reacting to a proposal by Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal to eliminate his state's income and corporate taxes and increase the sales tax.
Columnists like Kilgore attempt to influence the dominant media narrative, so I'll be watching over the next few weeks for more stories about GOP craziness in the states.
