Applications are now being accepted for the City of Ames Arts Capital Grant Program. This pilot program provides competitive grants to create and improve spaces in Ames for arts and artists to flourish. The City Council has budgeted $200,000 in total for these grants.

“There are many artists across a variety of disciplines who struggle with effective space to prepare, perform, and showcase their art,” said Public Art Commission Chair Angie DeWaard. “This program assists in the creation of better spaces so arts can thrive in Ames.”
“We are eager to see proposals that will result in a broad impact on the Ames community,” said Commission on the Arts Chair Tom Lockhart. “This program brings great artistic visions closer to reality.”

Applications are due by Friday, December 3. Awarded projects must be completed before June 30, 2023. Complete program eligibility criteria and application forms can be obtained at www.cityofames.org/PAC
The Public Art Commission establishes public art philosophy, develops a public art plan for the City, monitors the public art budget and recommends funding allocations for public art within City facilities, develops guidelines for selecting artwork, seeks private and governmental funding for public art, and develops educational, promotional projects for public arts programming.
The Commission on the Arts is charged with setting goals and criteria for arts expenditures for City Council approval, and with preparing and submitting a recommended plan for distribution of arts funding.
