Sections of East 20th Street will be closed to traffic beginning Tuesday, Sept. 7, weather permitting, to allow reconstruction of the street. This project will include new concrete street pavement and repair/replacement of select storm sewer intakes and manholes.

The City of Ames has contracted with All Star and its subcontractor, Cooper and Sons, for this project, which will be completed in two phases. Phase 1 includes the section of East 20th Street from George Allen to Meadowlane avenues. Access to East 20th Street from Meadowlane Avenue and driveways in the work zone will be restricted during the first phase, which is expected to be completed in three to four weeks. Access to Homewood Golf Course will be maintained via 20th Street from the west and George Allen Avenue from the south.

Phase 2 will begin after completion of the first phase and includes the section of East 20th Street from Duff to George Allen avenues. This section of East 20th Street will be closed to traffic during Phase 2. Access to Homewood Golf course will be maintained via George Allen Avenue.
