City Of Ames: Section Of East Lincoln Way To Close On Oct. 6 For Prairie View Utilities Construction

East Lincoln Way from I-35 to Teller Avenue (580th Street) will be closed to through traffic beginning Wednesday, Oct. 6, to allow construction of new utilities for the Prairie View Industrial Center. The project will include installation of a sanitary force main, sanitary gravity main, and water main. The new utilities will be constructed through boring and open trenching methods.

Due to safety concerns, East Lincoln Way will be closed during trenching operations, although residents and businesses will have access. Teller Avenue (580th Street) will also be closed during open trenching operations between East Lincoln Way and the new lift station south of East Lincoln Way.

The City of Ames has contracted with Keller Excavating for this utilities extension project, which will continue through the winter months. The project is expected to be complete in eight months, weather dependent.

Motorists are encouraged to be aware of construction in the area and to allow for extra travel time or consider using alternative routes. Those who use the signed detour route should follow posted speed limits. Speeds along East Lincoln Way will be reduced during active construction. As always, caution should be exercised when traveling through the construction area.

Developed by Alliant Energy and the Ames Economic Development Commission (AEDC), in partnership with the City of Ames, Prairie View Industrial Center features more than 1,300 acres located within the city limits of Ames. The property offers convenient access to vehicle transportation including Interstate 35 and U.S. Highway 30. The Union Pacific Railroad serves the property off the adjacent double tracks east to west on the main line.
