Books-A-Million site said the chain will open in the Borders location soon.

Books-A-Million is coming to Ames.

Borders, whose story came to an end with bankruptcy, still has its name etched on the glass of 1200 S. Duff Ave., and the store itself is completely empty.

A paper sign taped to the empty shop's front door, said the Books-A-Million chain is coming soon and its website does, too.

This story said that the company bought the leases of 14 Borders stores for just under $934,000 and that the sale includes shops in Iowa. An earlier bid to purchase 35 stores fell through.

Ames' Borders book store closed in September and Barnes & Nobel has purchased part of Borders' online business.
