Making Sense of the American Civil War: Feminist Critics of Slavery

Commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War with a presentation about women in the antislavery movement. Ranney Ramsey of the Des Moines Civil War Round Table will discuss some of these key women and how their criticism of slavery related to an emerging feminism.

Let’s Talk About It: Making Sense of the American Civil War, a reading and discussion series, has been made possible through a grant from the NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE HUMANITIES and the AMERICAN LIBRARY ASSOCIATION in partnership with the Ames Historical Society, Ames Public Library Friends Foundation, Humanities Iowa, and Story County Genealogical Society.
