Sawyer Elementary Farmers Market

Sawyer Elementary School will hold its First Annual Farmers Market on Thursday, October 4 from 4:30 to 6:30 pm. Third through fifth grade will help manage the market by giving garden tours and weighing and selling produce. Additional vegetables, fruit, and honey will be available from Prairie Bloom Farm, Huber Farm, Black Cat Acres, and other local farms. Staff and volunteers from Mary Greeley will paint faces and do nutrition activities with children, Wheatsfield Co-op will sell food and drinks, and the Sawyer PTO and local Cub Scout troop will sell popcorn. Additionally, two members of the Porch Stompers will be performing live music. There will even be an official ribbon cutting for the garden, which was planted this spring, with special thanks you to our sponsors and to the students who advocated for the garden.

This is an event at which the Ames community can celebrate local food connections and raise funds for their school garden. All are welcome!
