UPDATE: Former ISU Football Coach: McCarney Confirms Stroke
Former Iowa State University Football coach hospitalized Sunday confirmed he had a stroke.

Dan McCarney, a former football coach confirmed from his bed on Tuesday that he had suffered a stroke, the USA Today reported.
Several news outlets reported his hospitalization on Sunday and that he had been undergoing tests. Since that time his facebook page has been inundated with well wishes. Some suggested that he break out the Grey Goose.
McCarney told a Des Moines Register reporter to let everyone know he was fine.

"I've got too much Irish in me to stay down very long," he said.
The Washington Post reported that McCarney, now the North Texas football coach, was taken to the hospital on Sunday.

McCarney, 58, coached at Iowa State from 1995 to 2006. He was born in Iowa City and played for the Iowa Hawkeyes.
