I kept my cane in the basket, it has hand brakes, not back pedaled to brake, no gears and you do not need them; it's designed for sunny cruising comfort riding. It fits in the back of a truck or van or you can ride it home.
Bought this last August, rode a bit across street to Walmart and groceries (holds alot), then winter came and moved into bedroom for exercising in reverse pedaling, now, strong enough for walking. She has never been out in the weather or in the rain or snow, tires are smooth kind, so I would not ride it hard in such weather. Moved and stored in my stairwell rode it once. Like new.
