Guide To Tuesday's Ames Community Schools Election

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Five seats and a $65 million bond referendum are on the ballot.

Residents of the will be voting Tuesday to elect five people to the Ames Community School Board and to decide whether to allow the school to bond $65 million to repair and replace elementary schools.

Voters will be asked to select four of six candidates for four, four-year seats and choose one of two candidates running for a two-year seat.

Incumbents, , and will be challenged by , and for the four, four-year seats.

Incumbent , who was appointed to fill an unexpired term, will be challenged for his two-year term by .

Voters will also be asked if the district should be allowed to bond no more than in order to build three new elementary schools, reopen School and repair and remodel and elementary schools.

People can look up their polling place by clicking here and entering their address. Enter the town first to narrow results. People who have not registered to vote can still vote on Election Day, Sept. 13 by showing up in their polling places with an ID and proof of residency. People need a picture ID, such as a valid driver's license, and proof of address. If their address is on the ID that's fine otherwise people should bring a utility bill, lease, or a bank statement with their current address.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
