Iowa Caucus Results in Ames by Precinct

Pundits have been debating how a might affect the final results of Tuesday's Republican Iowa Caucus after some rural caucus-goers said the information they received at their caucus location didn't match what was reported by the Republican Party of Iowa.

Mitt Romney was declared the unofficial winner with just eight votes over Rick Santorum.

Ames Patch earlier this week that Mitt Romney and Ron Paul led both the Ames and the Story County Caucuses. Those two candidates were also practically tied.

Romney received 26 percent of the vote in Story County as did Paul, but Romney received 10 more votes. Rick Santorum received 20 percent of the vote in the county, and Newt Gingrich received 13 percent. A total of 4,210 people participated in the Republican Story County caucuses, an increase from the 3,600 who did so in 2008.

In Ames precincts, Romney received 30.6 percent of ballots cast, while Paul received 28 percent. Santorum came in third with 18.6 percent, according to results provided by the Republican Party of Iowa.
