Iowa State Cyclones Defensive Back Charged With OWI

The redshirt junior was pulled over early Saturday morning for allegedly driving the wrong way down Lincoln Way in Ames.

Iowa State Cyclones defensive back Drake Ferch has been charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to the Marshalltown Times-Republican.

Ferch was pulled over at approximately 2:21 a.m. Saturday morning after allegedly driving driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Lincoln Way in Ames, the Ames Tribune reported.

After pulling Ferch over, police told the Tribune that the arresting officer smelled alcohol on Ferch’s breath. Ferch was also slurring his speech, the article said.

Ferch reportedly refused a preliminary breathalyzer but later consented to a chemical breathalyzer, the Times-Republican reported. His blood alcohol content was .172.
